LOCUST SPAWN
Name: Locust Spawn
Aliases: Locusts, Bugs, Bane Crawlers, Little Horrors, Cannon Fodder
Sphere: Darktroot Domain (occasionally perform incursions into the surrounding regions)
Tier: Regular (real, real regular...hope you're happy, Ross XD)
Picture:
Ever since Egypt, we've known that God has used Locusts. Locusts are really, really bad critters. They have wiped out entire fields, crops, veggies, and the like. They are the bane of the vegetable kingdom. Many a cabbage has had its life forcibly claimed early by the gnawing teeth of these little buggers.
Fortunately for Earth, the locusts that have been unleashed aren't nearly as nasty as the ones planned for us in Revelations...
Meet the Locust Spawn; not the standard mother-fubbin' big bug you find hiding out on the back wall of your local chapel in downtown Alexandria (true story). Nope, this thing's about the size of a Doberman Pinscher and has an attitude to match. While one of these things may be bad enough, they're almost all found in packs of about 8-12...or in hordes in the hundreds of thousands. When these massive swarms appear, it's truly like out of a Biblical text book; monstrous mouths feeding upon the thousands, with scythes ready to slice their way through anything.
Fortunately for all, these things are still bugs. As such, they are easy to eliminate under the right conditions. They rely only upon their massive numbers to defeat an enemy (that and their excellent melee capabilities), and as such their armor is all but 'nil. Nice try, Locusts. Looks like Bug Spray still wins the day. Maybe take a lesson or two from the Cockroach?
Abilities: Locusts are deadly melee combatants. Up close and personal their scything claws, nails, and teeth can carve their way through flesh easily...though against armor they take a bit longer to deal with. They do have an exoskeleton, but they've grown so big that most of it has shrivelled, and as such only works when you're trying to beat it to death with just your fists or a club. Against a gun, however, it's relatively pointless. Against a minigun, good luck cleaning up the mess afterwards. However, they are known for their capacity for evolving, and some have developed wings that give them a speed boost...making them just a little bit scarier.
Miscellaneous Notes: - The Locust Spawn was made out of the need for the great Kerian to tone down on the elites and start making cannon fodder... yup...
- That being said, the Locust Spawn is, conveniently, inspired by the great Zergling from Starcraft...you can't get more cannon fodder than that
- A Zergli-er, Locust Spawn's greatest weakness is tanks... mortars... artillery... anything with long range and explosive
- Locust Spawn occasionally form massive swarms that enter into surrounding regions of Inferis, consuming everything in their path...they tend to get annoying
- No, they don't turn into living explosives that murder your floaty-base on command... that'd make them OP. They aren't meant to be OP...
- You must spawn more Overlor-oh, God-dammit, what am I doing? XD
