COLOSSUS
Name: Colossus
Aliases: The Heavy, Sasha
Sphere: The Great Undercroft
Tier: Regular, high-end though.
Picture:
Abilities: The hefty nine-foot twin brother of the arguably smaller Faceless Champion, the Colossus is the second heavy unit staple of the Undercroft, renowned for its walking tank-like qualities. Whereas the natural armour of the Champion contains nerves, the Colossus' armour seems also to be biological in origin. However, it appears to have some sensory dysfunction in that it feels nothing.
If the Champion is stupid and limited in intelligence, the Colossus is utterly brainless. It carries a pair of twin hatchets - which are actually a common man's two-handed axes - but its weapons are not truly where the offensive capabilities of the Colossus lie. Infact, its capabilities don't really lie in offense. The Colossus is such a large target that all focus their attention to it, the single usually in a squad of diverse units, and the adversaries focus on felling it before it charges - as it does - and deals masses of damage to other heavier units. But the Colossus can soak up so much damage before tumbling - and leaving a titanic rumble as it does - that this is something of a devious ploy from the tacticians in the Undercroft's ranks.
The Colossus' attack patterns are simple and predictable and it's simply its longevity which allows it to be of any use to a squad. It either charges or strikes slowly with the axes, its speed being its major drawback in return for its moderate strength and incredible resilience. Do not think that for its defense its attacks are somewhat weaker; a strike from those axe-like cleavers can still mean the end for less-defensible opponents.
Miscellaneous Notes: - Only form of vocal communication are in non-verbal growls up to war cries.
- One Colossus that can form speech has been discovered in the bowels of the Undercroft having not been exposed to warfare for several thousand decades. Somehow, it developed an intricate ability to speak Russian with a very heavy accent.
