CARAPITE
Name: Carapite
Aliases: Clammy
Sphere: The Black Sea
Tier: Regular
Picture:
Abilities: The Carapite is a standard-issue Black Sea troop. Insentient and completely obedient for the most part, everything about them is crafted from an underwater chitin; their hardy natural armour grants them both defense against potential assailants and a streamlined body shape when it comes to moving through the water. As with most Black Sea natives, the Carapite can breathe underwater for an indefinite amount of time - and by pulling itself together and flipping its joints - as well as tugging its blades into itself - it can essentially form a tapered shape which allows it a sort of natural propulsion as it moves, to cover large areas of the region with alarming speed.
The blades themselves are made from the same keratin-type material as the shell; and whilst reinforced, they are not as hardy as the armour, but still lightweight and deadly sharp. The Carapite's got reasonable close-combat skill with them, being able to strike, parry, and riposte with ease, holding the reverse-grip blades with relative aplomb, able to turn itself into something of a whirling dervish without much of an issue. This can, of course, be utilised both above and below water. The blades themselves are actually bio-organic; so if broken, holding them into their organic "sheaths" - as they are actually part of the Carapite's shell simply broken off - will allow them to regenerate to their original shape before they're removed, presumably with a few barnacles, over a few hours.
Finally - the Carapite's greatest weakness, the literal chink in its armour, is the fact that all its joints (inner shoulder, outer shoulder, elbow, and knee), and the iridescent orange orbs that are layered over said points, are completely unprotected. Whilst it will fervently defend against any strikes aimed at these area, a single strike to one of these eight points will debilitate it. Shattering one or two will maim it, four will almost certainly mean its falling into a state of catatonia - and any more will cause it to expire from a condition not dissimilar from a crustacean Demon analogue of exsanguination - or "blood loss".
Miscellaneous Notes: - Releases harrowing sonic screeches both below and above sea level which are shrill and can debilitate those who weren't expecting it.
- Somewhat intelligent, but incapable of speech.
