SNAPSHARK
Name: Snapshark
Aliases: Deep Hunter, Frenzy Fish
Sphere: Black Sea
Tier: Regular
Picture:
Abilities: Anywhere from ten to twenty-five feet in length, the Snapshark gets its name, as most would divine easily, from its formidable jaws. Often as long as seven or eight feet, the power of the Snapshark's bite can - and often does - shear straight through rocks, leading to the result that many of the undersea outcrops in Leviathan's realm are jagged and irregular, though hauntingly beautiful.
A hunter occurring both naturally and under Leviathan's command, the Snapshark is feral by nature. Its gaze can pierce the murky depths of the Sea with ease; and fins allow it to swim with aplomb through the black waters, but what is most remarkable of all the Snapshark's senses is, inherited from its Earthly cousins, its nose for blood. If blood, flesh, sinew, skin, hemolymph... anything torn or shredded, be it carrion or otherwise, lands within half a mile of a Snapshark, it will smell it immediately. And it will pursue that accurate sensory function with all the speed it can muster, sometimes reaching velocities of up to thirty or forty miles an hour beneath the sea.
With a hide nearly as strong as stone, the Snapsharks would be almost unstoppable as a group were it not for the fact that each is fiercely territorial and competitive. The reason so few exist is for the fact that they continually prey on one another - and shedding the blood of one attracts only another, and the fight continues in a vicious circle til only one Snapshark rises dominant. Nevertheless a formidable enemy, the Snapshark is not to be underestimated.
Armoured Snapsharks under Leviathan's service are not uncommon. Due to their feral and savage nature they are used as war mounts mainly, armoured and then mounted by a Hellion or a Carapite. A Black Sea cavalier on the back of one of these is TRULY something to be feared.
Miscellaneous Notes: - Can be easily confused with an eye for tactics and a handful of dead carrion. One of Lucifer's favourite pasttimes is tossing parts of dead birds into the fringe of the Black Sea and watching the Snapsharks chase around looking for it.
- NEVER found to hunt in packs.
