KUR
Name: Kur
Aliases: Hell Dragons, Demon Dragons, Ancients of Sumer, Kuri (pluralisation)
Sphere: Forlorn Ashplanes
Tier: Elite
Picture:
Abilities: The Kur was once an ancient hellish deity of Sumerian lore. In Inferis, his apparent existence has since been transcribed into a breed of Demons, the Kuri.
Kuri are great draconic beings, and in their essence appear to simply be wyverns, but the reality is far harsher. Chained to the Forlorn Ashplanes, with powerful beating wings, the Kuri take to the skies and unleash jets of searing flame to roast those who would oppose their lord and master Beelzebub. Fast, strong, and intelligent, the millennia-old Kuri dragons are not your usual sort of wyverns. They do not hoard, they do not feel greed, they are instead avatars of wrath and retribution.
Intelligent hunters and the lord of the Ashplanes' skies, they have sharp and tapered claws, and hteir bite can shred through steel and rock indiscriminately. Each Kuri ranges in size, but some of the largest are the size of tyrannosaurs, and seem to congregate at the sharper peaks dotted around the Ashplanes, or upon the obsidian volcanoes, attracted to both the height and the heat. Whilst rare, they are strong, and both renowned and feared sphere-wide throughout the Ashplanes by lesser Demons and Hunters.
All Kuri can breathe flame, developing the ability even as dragonlings, and all of them have vastly sharp jaws and claws, and immeasurably powerful bites. They do not speak, and instead project their voice telepathically, but their telepathy is limited only to conversation. Finally, the gaze of a Kur is one that has been known to freeze people into paralysis, possessing mesmeric and hypnotic qualities for those Demons and Humans alike of weaker will, but this is something of a secondary ability.
All Kuri are bound to their honour and their word. They cannot break a promise; and as such hardly ever make them. Cowardly Kuri are not Kuri.
Miscellaneous Notes: - All Kuri can speak Demonic and Sumerian, but only through telepathic conversation. That said, they are very calm and eloquent, typically.
- However, between one another - and even other wyvern species - they can converse in a guttural language known as Draconic.
- Serve as a retributive force; they do not need to hunt to sustain themselves, but do just for fun.
- All intelligent, and enjoy a good battle.
- Very honourable creatures.
- Their scales are resilient, but their neck, upper legs, and wings are all far less defensible and open to strikes. A well-placed shot will down a Kur very quickly.
